Location
Casterton  School is located on the borders where three counties meet: North Yorkshire, Cumbria and Lancashire. Pupils come to Casterton from a wide geographical area, with boarders coming from all over the UK. The school is very easily accessible from Scotland in the North and London and Manchester from the M6 which is only 15 minutes drive away. Just a mile from the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale and only seven miles from the M6 (J36), the area has plenty to offer and has attracted many notable visitors. The Vale of Lune was greatly admired by the painter Constable, and Ruskin was so impressed that he wrote, "I do not know in all my own country, still less in France or Italy, a place more naturally divine."

More recently, sculptor Andy Goldsworthy chose Casterton for a significant part of his Millennium 'Sheepfolds' installation, which is close to the school.
