Public SpeakingTriumph

Casterton's Senior Interhouse Public Speaking Competition was held on the evening of Monday 22 February.  As always, our girls rose to the challenge and in spite of incredibly busy schedules - interhouse lacrosse, interhouse swimming, rehearsals for 'Whistle Down the Wind' and, lest we forget, the week's prep - an entertaining evening of speeches took place.

Topics took us from an analysis and history of Miss World, to a definition of Patriotism, via a Lost Briton (the search for the lost true gentlemen) and a challenge to Go for a Geek if you are looking for an easy life.

The winning team was Williams House, with Jemma Harrison as a highly professional Chairperson, Jacinta Hunter a fluent and engaging Speaker, and a meticulous Vote of Thanks, Miriam Wildermuth.

The prize for best speaker was awarded to Georgina Salzedo, who saw an extremely enthusiastic response to her Geek Speech.  It certainly gave many of our students food for thought…

Thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the evening.  We now look forward to the Junior competition next term!
