Nursery

Casterton Nursery gives each child the head start they need and deserve. Early years schooling is the gateway to successful schooling. Casterton Nursery provides an exciting and stimulating environment within which, through structured play and learning, children establish a sound base for the next stage of their education.

We accept Government free entitlement sessions for three and four year olds. Parents can receive 15 hours per week (five x three hour sessions per week) free nursery education. The free sessions can be claimed from the term after your child turns three years old, until the term in which your child turns five years old.

The Nursery day follows a flexible routine to accommodate the children attending full-time and part-time. The fundamental aim is to offer young children a planned and purposeful curriculum, which encompasses Every Child Matters and enables the children to develop socially, physically and emotionally. The Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage. This is a compulsory national standard of Early Years Education and provision. Nursery staff are highly skilled and are led by a qualified teacher and an Early Years specialist holding the new EYPS qualification.

The Nursery use educational visits and first hand experiences wherever possible in order to broaden the experiences and understanding of the children. Visits recently include a trip to a farm, a fire station, a zoo and museum as well as termly theatre visits.
