Pupils in the Upper Sixth at Casterton School have organised a sponsored swim on 24th February 2012 in order to help raise money for the charity Build Africa.
The backdrop of fells provided a superb setting for the North Small Schools’ Lacrosse Tournament which was held at Casterton School last Sunday 22nd January.
It has been another busy term for the Casterton Science Club. As well as our regular students, we have had up to thirty girls attending on Thursday afternoons. The range of activities has been diverse and the themes have covered all three science disciplines; please read on for an overview of the fun so far!
Hoping to repeat their success in the ESU’s public speaking competition earlier in the year, Casterton’s 6th Form public speakers entered the Rotary Club 'Youth Speaks' competition on Monday 14th November.
The Westmorland Youth Orchestra takes to Kirkby Lonsdale’s Queen Elizabeth School stage on Saturday (7.30pm) with new conductor Roland Fudge picking up the baton
This was a very successful afternoon and the audience of staff, students and parents were extremely impressed with the calibre of the presentations. Each student spoke for 10 minutes, after which there was five minutes for questions from the audience.
It was a great honour for Mrs Thistlethwaite and Miss Haigh to accompany Mrs Sykes to the ‘Independent School Awards’ held at the National Motorbike Museum on Wednesday 16th November.
