In Life Skills, we aim to give the pupils the expertise and knowledge needed to lead confident, healthy and responsible lives, both as individuals and as members of society. In order to encourage all girls, regardless of ability or background, to explore their opinions and feelings in a stimulating environment of fun, trust and mutual understanding, a variety of methods are used including buzz groups, videos, role-plays, quizzes, discussion groups, games, case studies and demonstrations.
In the younger forms, the subject is taught through a timetabled weekly lesson during which both health related topics and citizenship issues are considered. For the older girls, delivery is via dynamic and interactive workshops involving an extensive range of activities. A programme of visiting speakers also deals with a wide range of issues including Eating Disorders, Assertiveness, Alcohol, and Drug Abuse at times appropriate to the needs of the pupils.
