Casterton School offers ESL teaching to students from year 7 to Upper 6th, supporting the key elements of speaking, listening, writing and reading. Students are diagnostically assessed to establish their individual needs.
The ESL department works closely with other staff to ensure equality, access to all aspects of the curriculum and to enable the ESL student to fully participate in school life. In addition, girls are encouraged to take part in extra-curricular activities, such as The International Committee and Conversation Clubs, to establish better communication and integration throughout the school.
The ESL department maintains a strongly pastoral emphasis in all aspects in order to promote the well being of overseas students and encourage successful learning.
