Drama

The Drama Department aims to instil a love of Drama and Theatre and girls regularly visit theatres locally and further afield. First class drama productions are staged each year enabling girls to explore their creativity both on stage and behind the scenes as makeup artists, sound technicians and set builders. The senior production for 2011 was "Sweeney Todd".

A large number of girls also take LAMDA Speech and Drama examinations, going on to study at prestigious schools such as R.A.D.A and L.I.P.A.

Last year, five ex Casterton girls performed at the Edinburgh Fringe to tremendous reviews in The Scotsman and The Telegraph. GCSE and A level productions are open to the general public and highlight the pupils’ versatility and confidence. All A level students have consistently achieved A grades and in 2010 all GCSE pupils gained an A* grade.

House plays are directed and staged annually by the pupils; these are always very lively events and an external adjudicator awards prizes.
