We host quadrangular athletics on Saturdays in the summer across the year group ages 5-10 and have lots of opportunities for all girls to compete in all the athletic events. We have sixth form and year 11 scorers and judges which allows them to take on leadership roles and be role models for younger students. We are extremely successful in these events and really enjoy hosting other schools. We enter the South Lakes competitions and often have girls selected for the South Lakes team (11 girls were selected in 2011) and in turn they represent the Cumbria team (5 were selected in 2011), two girls went on to win their events at the inter counties events. We enter the English schools Track and Field cup and regularly qualify for the regional finals. One student also competed in the English schools athletics championships in 2011. Sports day is always a fantastic way to finish the term and start the summer with a bang! At the end of sports day personal performance trophies and certificates are awarded as well as the overall house trophies and school records are highly prized and contested.
