Academic Life

Casterton regularly achieves outstanding examination results, with some exceptional individual achievements at both GCSE and A level.

Girls excel in a variety of traditional academic subjects ranging from Mathematics and the Sciences to Art and Music.

Inspirational teaching and small class sizes mean that girls have excellent learning opportunities; they are encouraged to achieve their best in and outside of the classroom, to develop lasting interests and a love of learning.

In the Sixth Form, the highly regarded Extended Project Qualification is chosen by many girls as an additional subject; universities place great value on the research and learning skills fundamental to this option.

Most girls go on to secure the university place of their choice, having achieved academic results that are comparable with much larger, far more academically selective schools.

Small classes, superb teaching and high expectations encourage our pupils to take responsibility for their learning and to develop the skills they need to succeed. Our curriculum is broad and balanced so that each pupil has a firm foundation on which to build the next stage of their lives.

Whilst intellectual rigour is at the heart of all we do, so is a sense of enjoyment and it is this that pervades the school.

The academically able are stretched and the Learning Success Department provides support to those who need it.

Our highly experienced and dedicated staff work together with Form Tutors and Directors to produce girls who have intellectual character, inner strength, are creative yet courageous.
