Casterton is a leading independent day and boarding school in the North of England for girls from 3 - 18 years and boys from 3 - 11 years. The school was founded in 1823 and among its first pupils were the Brontë sisters.
Pupils join Casterton as day pupils and boarders from a wide area. The school is easily accessible across the North of England and Scotland and is under three hours from London by rail. A network of bus routes bring pupils in from across North Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria.
Set in 30 acres of grounds and in the heart of stunning Cumbria countryside, the school is near the historic market town of Kirkby Lonsdale and just 15 minutes from the M6 motorway.
John Ruskin, the famous Victorian artist and poet described the view of Casterton as: "The valley of the Lune at Kirkby is one of the loveliest scenes in England, therefore in the world."
It is the family ethos and strong, purposeful sense of community that makes the school so distinctive and popular. First class teaching and an impressive array of sport, music, drama and creative opportunities develop new talents and nurture outstanding achievement.
We would be delighted to welcome you to our next Open Morning. Alternatively, request a prospectus or contact our Admissions Registrar to arrange an individual visit.
I look forward to meeting you personally in the near future.
